Cast — Study in Object & Distortion
This drawing presents a single fork resting against a blank ground, accompanied by a distorted shadow that extends beyond its physical form. The composition shifts attention away from the object itself and toward its projected presence, allowing the shadow to act as an active counterpart rather than a passive result. Through this pairing, the familiar becomes subtly unsettled.
The work explores the instability of perception. Light alters the fork’s silhouette, producing a secondary form that contradicts the object’s rigidity and function. This tension between solidity and distortion introduces a quiet unease, where the ordinary is made uncertain. By isolating the subject and stripping away contextual cues, the drawing invites reflection on how meaning is shaped as much by projection as by form itself.
