“Retro Signal” — Motion Exploration in Color and Time
This motion graphics piece draws inspiration from the aesthetic charm of retro visuals — the era of analog signals, limited color palettes, and imperfect beauty. Through color splitting, additive blending, and intentional distortion, the work reimagines the nostalgic feel of early television and video. Each flicker and offset carries the warmth of the past, reinterpreted through a modern lens.
At its core, this project is a study in appreciation — of where visual culture began and how it continues to evolve. By restricting the color range and embracing signal artifacts, I sought to highlight the elegance of imperfection. The rhythmic distortions and subtle misalignments become symbols of transition, representing how design and technology move forward while keeping echoes of their origin.
Beyond its technical framework, the piece is a visual reflection on time itself — how innovation builds upon memory. It celebrates the lineage of creativity, connecting yesterday’s textures to today’s precision. Just as we honor progress, this work invites a moment to look back and appreciate the foundations that made it possible.
