Sinuscript

This kinetic typography piece explores the expressive potential of motion and type, using a sine wave as both a visual and conceptual foundation. The goal was not just to animate text, but to create a rhythmic experience that reflects the natural flow of speech, emotion, and thought. Instead of treating letters as static forms, this project treats them as living elements; shaped by timing, pacing, and form. It reflects an ongoing pursuit to understand how typography can embody feeling and movement, making the invisible aspects of language—like tone and rhythm—visually tangible.
The animation began with a simple phrase: “EVEN CHAOS FOLLOWS A CURVE.” From there, I sketched keyframes by hand to understand how each letter could rise, fall, and transition naturally. Using After Effects, I plotted a sine path and attached the phrase to the wave using position expressions; then duplicated the phrase to fill the page. Timing and easing were adjusted to avoid mechanical repetition, adding human-like imperfections in the flow. Typography choices, like using a clean font, ensured clarity while the wave motion brought energy. Layers of scale, opacity, and slight rotation were added to give more personality to the movement without distracting from the message. The goal was to let the wave guide the expression, not overpower it.
